The Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus), also known as the Tiger Owl, is a large owl native to the Americas. It is an adaptable bird with a vast range and is the most widely distributed true owl in the Americas. The two in the photo are still too young to leave the nest and are waiting for mom to bring back a mouse or a squirrel or a cat or small dog. The adult females are larger than the males..... Watch your pets when she's in the area.
